Software will help doctors in Aids battleImogen Wright, 30, a South African with a PhD in computational biology, has developed Exa-type, software that will help doctors determine, in minutes, what drugs an HIV-positive patient may be resistant to. Wright is one of 10 nominees vying for a share of a $150,000 innovation prize to be awarded through a Zurich-based NGO, the African Innovation Foundation. Four of the nominees are South African. The creators of Siri just showed off their next AI assistant, Viv, and it’s incredibleDag Kittlaus and Adam Cheyer created the artificial intelligence behind Siri, Apple’s iconic digital assistant, and one of the first modern apps to capably handle natural language queries on a smartphone. Today the pair showed off their newest creation, Viv, a next generation AI assistant that they have been developing in stealth mode for the last four years.
