In the fast-paced world of visual content, standing out from the crowd is a constant challenge. For Plotaverse, a social animation platform, such a competitive environment was also a unique opportunity - a chance to empower and connect visual creators worldwide.
After a mutually beneficial partnership with Dreamix, Plotaverse was able to turn its initial product into a native iOS application, add more functionalities, and build an in-demand social platform around it.
A vision for better image animation
In 2015, in a world of traditional static images, Plotagraphs were born - animated images that combine photography and animation. The Plotagraph tool let artists and visual content creators edit and animate their images easily, without the need for complex software or extensive technical knowledge.
The revolutionary technology quickly gained attention for its previously unseen editing capabilities. It became the number one Photo and Video app on the Apple App store, got over 4 million downloads, and was featured by top brands and celebrities, tripling their engagement on social media.
The opportunity
Riding this wave of success, Plotagraph decided to build an entire social network - Plotaverse - around the concept. In addition to enhanced editing and animation capabilities, it would enable visual creators around the world to connect and share their creations.
Plotaverse already had a beta version - however, the company identified the opportunity for a higher level of execution that could offer an improved experience to their users. They set out to find a software partner that could continue the product’s successful journey and realize the platform’s full potential. High technical expertise and great product management skills were crucial because Plotaverse had an ambitious vision about future growth, and needed software that could grow and meet those goals.
Previously having successful experience working with companies from the European Union, Plotaverse decided to work with us at Dreamix, starting our 3+ years of successful partnership.
The Dreamix solution
The first challenge for Dreamix was taking over the project from the previous contractor. A team of Dreamix developers, led by an Engineering Manager, visited the contractor’s office to facilitate the handover. After a smoothly handled transition, Dreamix was able to start work on the project.
The first thing Dreamix did was refine Plotagraph and transform it into a native iOS application. The team rewrote the entire application to ensure compatibility and optimal performance on the iOS platform. By making Plotagraph a native app, they eliminated its dependency on web servers and made it accessible to a wider audience.
The native iOS also introduced improvements to the editing process. The application offered a wide range of functionalities, ranging from animation vectors and anchor points to real speed control and export features.
To achieve smooth and responsive animations, Dreamix leveraged the iOS-Metal graphics API, a low-level framework that efficiently utilizes the device's GPU.
Building upon the success of Plotagraph’s transformation, the two companies moved on to the main goal of their partnership - a comprehensive social media platform for visual artists. As a full-fledged social media platform, Plotaverse offered its users features such as:
- Sharing of interactive animated creations: Building upon Plotograph’s success, Plotaverse enabled visual artists to share their dynamic animations with other like-minded creators.
- User engagement tools: The platform aimed to foster a vibrant community. Users could receive comments, likes, re-shares, and interact with fellow artists and enthusiasts.
- Friendship and networking: Plotaverse enabled artists to connect with each other, build circles of friends or coworkers, expand their reach and collaborate on projects.
- Community safety standards: To ensure a safe environment, Dreamix incorporated complex content filters. They maintained the platform’s integrity and made it accessible to more users worldwide.
- Advanced filtering and sorting: Going beyond basic presentation, the platform offered advanced filtering mechanisms, letting users view (or ignore) specific types of animated content.
- Subscriptions and tracking: Users could subscribe to their favourite creators, follow their latest work, and get notifications for new uploads, fostering increased interaction.
- Cross-platform integration: Plotaverse allowed users and creators to easily share content to other social media platforms, broadening their reach and attracting new audiences to the platform.
- Free and pro version: A tiered version approach catered to a wider range of users and encouraged wider adoption by casual browsers and serious artists alike.
A creative revolution
Partnering with Dreamix was a game-changing decision for Plotaverse. Their dedication to quality software development transformed our concept into a user-friendly reality. Their technical skills, coupled with a seamless collaborative approach, not only met our ambitions but exceeded them. I'm truly impressed with their work and excited about the future possibilities.

Thanks to its collaboration with Dreamix, Plotaverse was left with a powerful tool that gained widespread popularity and high demand in the creative community. The innovative concept and technical execution lead to competitors trying to imitate parts of the product. Apple’s desire to purchase the tool was yet another testament to its groundbreaking nature.
Furthermore, the collaboration between the two companies shaped the entire Plotaverse social media system, creating an engaging platform for visual creators to connect and share.
In conclusion, the Dreamix-Plotaverse partnership led to a functional and sought-after product - but it was about more than that. Ultimately, both companies remain committed to empowering visionaries and creating solutions that make a lasting difference.
