Dreamix is pleased to announce the appointment of Martin Nikolaev as Commercial Director, UK and Ireland. He will focus on further developing the company's Insurance and Agentic AI proposition and act as its subject matter expert for Insurance and InsurTech. He brings twelve years split between management consulting and AI-led software delivery. Six of those years were spent working exclusively across general insurance, life insurance and pensions, and specialty insurance, squarely inside one of the industries most exposed to the gap between AI's promise and its practice.
Why Martin, why now
Martin knows insurance from the inside. He spent six years as a management consultant, product owner and process improvement analyst across general insurance, life and pensions, and specialty lines. His work was tracking down the waste in insurance workflows, long before agentic AI had a name.
Then he set out to build the fixes himself. He joined a rapid-prototyping firm that turned ideas into working software in six-week sprints, and moved with it into Accenture just as generative AI took off in late 2022. Since then, he:
- The work of 50+ contractors, automated. For a global bank, he built a RAG-based data management tool that took on the workload of more than 50 contractors on an M&A programme.
- Months of work, done in minutes. His sustainability reporting lab cut processing time by more than 99%.
- From one lab to four. He followed with a procurement lab and grew the operation to four GenAI labs with more than 30 AI and software engineers.
- Global leaders signed. He took the accelerators to market and closed deals with world leaders in banking, pharmaceuticals, automotive and consumer goods.
- £1m saved, 98% payroll accuracy. At Colibri Digital, his timesheet automation for HR and operations saved £1m across 12 sites, more than £80,000 per site, and raised payroll accuracy to 98%.
That record explains why clients and colleagues bring him their hardest problems: a vague, high-level idea that has to become a working AI solution. He cuts through ambiguity fast, targets the parts of a workflow where AI pays off, and delivers tools that operational teams use every day and that hold up in production.
Closing the gap between AI pilots and AI adoption
Over the last few years, most insurers and brokers have been shown what AI can do with a forty-page submission. It can pull out the exposure schedule and work through the loss history in seconds. In reality, very few have actually changed the way their teams work day to day. The systems those models have to plug into are often decades deep in legacy infrastructure, and the processes wrapped around them were built long before anyone expected a machine to read a submission.
That gap is exactly where Martin has spent the AI-facing half of his career: building and commercialising GenAI accelerators for large enterprises, then learning, project by project, why so many of them stall before they reach real adoption.
"A lot of companies are trying to bring agentic AI into their workflows, but the risk appetite stays low, because real return on investment means building around legacy platforms and legacy processes that need improvement in their own right," he says.
AI adoption needs proper time and the attention of the people who will use it. A quick sprint and a demo prove the technology works, and little else. Companies that invest the time see returns sooner, because they rethink how their teams work."
The people made the difference
Martin's first meeting with Georgi Nikolov, CEO, and later with the rest of Dreamix's leadership team during the recruitment process, is what settled the decision for him.
"It was very much the reason why I joined," he says. The people, the culture and the value you unlock for clients matter. It's what makes you want to get up in the morning and do your best work."
What's next
Martin will lead Dreamix's insurance proposition in the UK and Ireland. As the London Market starts moving AI from pilots into production, Dreamix will bring the approach it uses across other regulated industries: strong engineering, real domain knowledge, and the data, integration and governance work needed to make AI run on the legacy platforms insurers already have.
Insurers need AI that works inside the systems they already run. Martin has spent his career on exactly that problem, and he brings the insurance depth to match our engineering. We're delighted to have him leading our growth in the UK and Ireland," said Georgi Nikolov, CEO of Dreamix.
