The Opportunity
Our client’s custom-configured Veeva Quality Management platform required rigorous user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure functionality and alignment with business needs. However, at the start of 2024, they realized there were bugs caused by unclear or outdated requirements. The pharma giant calculated that bugs would be approximately 10 times cheaper to fix if detected earlier. They identified an opportunity to automate their functional testing processes, find bugs early in the development phase, and save significant resources.

When our client approached us, they already had a Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) framework in place, but it was limited to specific business actions within individual modules. Our first step was to enhance this framework by introducing generic, reusable steps that could be applied across the entire Veeva platform. These steps were designed to be versatile, easy to maintain, and adaptable to new modules with minimal effort. This not only streamlined their testing process but also significantly reduced the time and cost of onboarding new modules.
One of their major modules was ready for release, but testing was falling behind. At the heart of the issue was a huge security workbook that was taking a long time to test manually. Using our enhanced framework, we automated the testing process. This allowed our client to meet their tight deadline without compromising on quality.
